Falcons Skipper dropped for Olympics Qualifier
Long serving captain of Nigeria's female National team, FLorence Omagbemi may not be part of Nigeria's Olympic Games Qualifying match against Ghana next January as her name was conspicuosly missing from Coach Ismaila Mabo's roster for the Falcons next match on the 30th of January.
Coach MAbo's list of thirty nine home based players and six foreign based include, U.S based former Africa footballer of the year, Mercy Akide, Patience Avre and Eberechi Opara. Maureen Mmadu plays in Norway while Gloria Usieta was on the books of Rivers Angels Sports Club of Port Harcourt before leaving midseason to join Kavala86 FC of Athens. Players of league Champions, Delta Queens of Asaba top the list of invited players with ten- Precious Dede, Felicia Eze, Elizabeth Johnson, Semola Akinlose, Chizoma Oparaocha, Florence Okwuemu, nkechi Egbe, Victoria Nweze, Vera Okolo and Chima Nwosu. Pelican Stars of Calabar supply eight- Yinka Kudaisi, Blessing Igbojionu, Ifeanyi Chiejine Ogechi Onyenenya, Juliana Ekwerike, Ajuma Ameh, Titilayo Mekuleyi, Celestina Onyeka, while Rivers Angels Sports Club of Port Harcourt have four players in the team- returnee goalkeeper, Ann Chiejine, Captain of the All Africa Games gold medal winning team, Rita Nwadike and Stella Mbachu. The other players in the team are- Kikelomo Ajayi (Police MAchine), , Omon Ighodaro and Saidat Adegoke (FCT Queens of Abuja), Ayisat Yusuf and Helen Azi (Capital Queens of Oron). From Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa are- Akudo Sabi, Gift Otuwe, Faith Ikidi and Maureen Eke. The list also includes Rotimi Omonyi, Ruquayat Yunus, Glory Keshi, Ogbuefi Chizoba, udith Omonikhire and revelation of the 2003 Super Six league, Idoreyin Okon of Ibom Unity Queens of Uyo. Effionwan Ekpo and Perpetua Nkwocha who returned to Nigeria just before the Women World Cup after a six month stint in China are also part of the team. The players are expected to report to camp on January 4, 2004 at the Liberty Stadium Hotel, Ibadan. 0
