Onyali Congratulates Globacom, introduces Yali- Ya

Accompanied by Ibanga Inyang, Managing Director of the company, Yali-Yali Enterprises, Onyali said she considered a visit to Globacom to be most appropriate because of the company’s unparalleled support for sports in Nigeria.

Onyali was received at the Mike Adenuga Towers, corporate headquarters of Globacom by Yinka Akande, the Ag. Head of Communications Department who noted that her contributions to athletics in Nigeria remain a reference point in the nation’s sports history.

Paying tribute to the fastest female athlete in the 100m dash, Akande remarked, “We are proud of your achievements for this country and we hope in the years ahead, you will work to produce replacements because that is the true mark of greatness”.

Responding, Onyali said she was greatly inspired by the role Globacom played in Nigeria’s success at the 8th All Africa Games held in Abuja three years ago. On the Glo-CAF Awards which held recently in Abuja, the athlete turned-entrepreneur said it was a land mark event that can be put together only by a company like Globacom.

“I only returned to Nigeria a few days ago and saw the Glo-CAF ceremony on television. It made me proud of this country and reinforced my conviction that only Nigerians can develop Nigeria. I received offers from countries like Ghana and the United States to do what I am doing now in their country, but I am investing here because I believe in this country”, Onyali declared.

On her plans to groom kids who will be Nigeria’s future track stars, Onyali said she intends to build a 3D Sports centre in Abuja as well as use the sports wears company to encourage present athletes.

“As the captain of the national team to the 2004 Olympic Games, I know first hand what the problems of the Nigerian athlete are these includes; food, kits and money. I know that when properly kitted, the Nigerian athlete will excel and that is why I have brought Yali-Yali”, Onyali posited.
