Nantes of France player, Emerse Fae, playing his first game for his country, broke down the right and released Drogba with a pass but he was fouled by Hoalid Regragui and the referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot.

Before then, Drogba almost got himself on the score sheet on twenty five minutes when Kanga Akale’s shot was stopped by keeper Tarek Jamouni and Nouredine Naybet did well to clear off the line, Drogba’s header from the rebound.

On twenty eight minutes, Hadji should have scored but he shot wide right inside the Ivorien penalty box.

Hadji again had a chance to even things up with just sixteen minutes to go, but his effort went over the bar, even though it fooled the official score board that had already given it as a goal.
