Okocha quits Bolton; leads Eagles to Egypt

Super Eagles skipper, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has finally concluded plans to wave good-bye to his English Premiership side, Bolton Wanderers. The Nigerian midfield celebrity, nigeriasports.com gathered, has already put hand on paper to join Jeddah-based Al-Ittihad for an 18-month contract.

This move has finally nailed speculations that had made the rounds over Okocha's continued 'wandering' with Bolton in the English Premiership football wanderland.  Earlier, Bolton sources had denied moves by the player to lace boots for a side in Quatar; "but with the current development, the Nigerian is bound to go to Jeddah for an initial 18 months deal worth 5.1M euros," a close confidant of the player told nigeriasports.com

A louder note of discord was earlier sounded by Bolton officials, when the Nigerian international was demoted as the team's captain...an act which had left Okocha sour.  As if that was not enough for a player and captain, who contributed immensely in bringing the English side to its present status amongst the elites, Manager Sam Allardyce reduced him to a bench-warmer for the better part of the English season so far...this of course did not only leave the Nigerian skipper frustrated, but also played the catalyst in his move to the Asian top side.

Okocha has since joined his compatriots in Portugal, preparatory to go gunning for the lofty golden title of the African Feast of Football scheduled to be shrilled-on  on January 20, 2006 in Egypt.
