Preparations for the much-awaited World Armed Forces Polo Tournament received a big boost over the weekend with most of the participating countries sending in their respective team lists to the organizers.
Topping the list of countries that have sent in their team lists, jersey colours, national flags and a tape of their national anthems, is the United States of America that had initially requested for three slots to accommodate their marines, Navy and Air Force. Others include the United Kingdoms, India, South Africa and host Nigeria whose team has been perfecting strategies at their Kaduna camp. Chairman Fifth Chukker Resort, Mallam Ahmed Dasuki who disclosed this to Sunpolo, stated that Argentina and Pakistan, who have earlier confirmed their participation, would sent in their lists this week ahead of the opening ceremony billed for the next week in Kaduna. According to the chairman who led a Nigerian team to Accra, Ghana for an invitational tournament, said everything points to an exciting tournament with allthe participating countries fielding their best hands in what would undoubtedly be an historic event. " We are indeed grateful to the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army, particularly, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Kaduna State Government for their immense support for this novel project that is guaranteed to change the face of polo in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large," Dasuki added. .
