Manager foresees hard times for Eguavoen![]()
Johnbull Omoregie, who featured prominently for both the then Bendel Insurance FC of Benin-City alongside, Austin Eguavoen and the defunct Stationery Stores FC of Lagos, found it difficult to pin a starting point as time before the championship. Hear him: "I don't know where to start from, but in as much as I am into sports and I know when to start to prepare for tournaments of the magnitude of the Africa Cup of Nations, Eguavoen and his men and players have a quite a rough road to travel in Egypt. It is unfortunate that, our big players international players are not responding positively as at when due, to a national calls. " It is very unfortunate for the coaches because it would be very difficult for them to groom the players and to sink into them, the style and pattern of play the team should adopt at any given match and situation within the short period of time," regretted the ex-junior international. He was howeve,r not through as according to him, there could be a ray of hope if, there is discipline in the team. "Well, as professional coaches, Eguavoen and his crew of tinkers should be able to show at least, some traces of their calling in the team during the continental soccer galaxy. Professional coaches in European countries and elsewhere, really have little to add to their national teams; besides, blending and various approaches during competitions as this. "The players on their side should realize that, Nigerians are expecting a lot from them; the team having failed to get a ticket for next year's World Cup Finals in Germany. This is the time for them all ...I mean those, who would be eventually chosen to bear the nation's flag in Cairo, Egypt. Discipline, hardwork, commitment and the zeal to play and win should be their passwords," Benin-born players' manager sumitted.
