Prof Omotayo back on the bloc

Prof Seun Omotayo; fulfilment of goal
Suspended Executive Secretary of the 15th National Sports Festival, tagged 'GATEWAY GAMES 2006', Professor Seun Omotayo, is back on the bloc for a full-throttled machinaries aimed at ensuring a successful and fulfilling fiesta.

The Professor of Sports Psychology, who had to vacate his GATEWAY GAMES, Secretariat Seat in the MKO Stadium complex, Abeokuta to "enable proper and uninterrupted investigations into allegations of misappropriation of funds" levelled against him and some other stafsf of the Secretariat, nigeriasports.com gathered, officially resumed duties Monday, December 19, 2005.

"Professor Omotayo is resuming Monday and his reinstatement, has proved that he was innocent of the allegations made against him.  We are sure that soon, very soon, the truth would prevail and the authorities would come to realize, who is working and those who are just after contracts and all that.

"Our joy is that, no matter how long, the truth will always prevail and it has at least, prevailed so far.  We are happy that, our man is back to work,"a confidant of Omotayo cheerfully told nigeriasports.com in Ijebu-Ode.

The Professor, who only last November became the first African to win the First African Sports Leadership Award, refused to comment on his suspension and subsequent reinstatement.  However, he managed to tell nigeriasports.com this much: "See, I hardly speak to the press...it has never been in my character.

"It is not borne out of pride or disrespect for the press, but it is just that, I am not the talking type of person.  So, at times, I feel somehow, when people tell me that they read about what I say in the press.  About what has happened, I leave everything in the hands of God.  That is all I can say."

Professor Omotayo, who was the President, Sports Psychologists Association of Nigeria, SPAN, was honoured with the Sports Leadership Award at the International Conference for Health, Physical Education and Dance at the 46th World Conference of ICHER.LT held in Istanbul in November, 2005 for his cherished works and contributions to the development of sports, particularly in the continent.
