FCT Queens still in limbo

Two weeks after making a promise to pay off all outstanding debts owed to players of FCT Queens football club of Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-Rufai is yet to keep to his words.

In a reception organized for the team last week to honour them for winning the Dana Cup in Denmark, El-Rufai said the girls will receive the eleven months salary and sign-on fees owed them but reports from Abuja show that there is no visible move yet to ensure these girls are paid.

A player with the team told www.nigeriasports.com on the condition of anonymity that the Council keeps saying there is no money so they cannot pay the girls, but the players insist they must be paid, especially because the Ministry made that promise on national television.

“All we are saying is that they should pay us our eleven months salaries and our sign on fees for the year so we can go home. We are tired of playing for this club but we will not go without our money,” The player said.

The FCT Queens had a torrid time at the female league Super Six last month as twenty-three players squashed into two rooms for the ten day female football championship.
