Minister promises stonger muscles for lifters
Sports Minister, Samaila Sambawa is not impressed with the sports chart for the out-going year... and he is not hiding his feelings at all. He told nigeriasports.com in Port Harcourt recently; "let me be honest with you, 2005 has not been a lucky one for the country in sports.
For that, Enyimba FC would have qualified for the CAF finals, Dolphins FC would have not been beaten to the cup in the final and the Super Eagles would not have failed in their quest for a World Cup Finals ticket in Germany next year." Beaten hollow by all these, the Minister is rolling his sleeves fora total showdown at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne next year. For teasers, he has promised to ensure that the performances of the country in weightlifting at the Melbourne Games, improve. He confided in nigeriasports.com that, he was into some projections which are aimed at better prospects for the sport already. He disclosed that, sooner than later, the much sought-after anti-doping law shall be ready and that, if that was done, he was optimistic that our lifters would have better prospects and a more refined fortunes at the Games. .GIFT EGUMA, Port Harcourt
