FA heads, Stakeholders in thinking caps over NFA

.EFFIONG NYONG...let Galadima, Go...
Against the Galadima-headed NFA's gimmicks to stay longer in office for extra 20 days, FA chairmen across the nation and some stake holders of the game are expected to meet in Abuja on Thursday, December 1, 2005 to arrange logistics for the election of a new board to run the affairs of football in the country.

nigeriasports.com gathered that top on the agenda of the group are; setting up an electoral committee for the election of a new NFA Board, sketching out the election guidlines and setting the date for the election, amongst other issues.

We were further hinted that contrary to speculations that the Galadima board was flushed out by the Sports Minister, it was only mandatory for the board to quit any official duties since their term had expired.

According to our Abuja contact,"nobody sacked anybody.  Nobody locked-out anybody at the NFA Secretariat.  The fact is that, since their term had expired, it was only traditional that, they quit the scene.

They tried to fool Nigerians and the authorities that, FIFA had extended their stay with 20 days.  This is not true at all.  FIFA did not in the first place,  did not put them on the board, therefore FIFA cannot ask them to stay awhile' when their time was over.

"FIFA does not dabble into the affairs of national associations except an affiliated National Association, is running the affairs of the game against established FIFA Statue.  It is only in such circumstances that, the world football governing body can interfere in a national association's affairs," we were told.

Reacting to the claim that FIFA has extended the tenure of board, Sports Manager, Rhythm FM radio and Silverbird TV in Lagos, Effiong Nyong stated:  "There is no basis for the Galadima-led board for wanting to stay on.  If you talk about administration, they were absent; organization, absent; achievements, absent; relationship with coaches and players, absent.

"But if you talk about setting a stage for confrontations between the Minister and the Secretary-General, Galadima was present; if you talk about disorganization, he was present; if you talk about spending the FA money in inviting States FA Chairmen to FA Cup Final with the view of wooing them to have him for a second tenure, he was present.

"To be frank, the board is still there up till now, because of civilization.  They should be grateful to civilization; otherwise, they would have been kicked out of office long ago. The game has suffered enough under Galadima's leadership, so they should bow out now.
