Lagos Special Sports team for S/Africa Tennis fies

Unrepentant in their resolve to ensure that they better their lots in national sports competitions, Lagos State, known in the league of states in the nation's sports arenas as, "EKO FOR SHOW" have embarked on what could see them drop the tag come the 15th edition of the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

Only last week, nigeriasports.com gathered that, four members of the State's representatives in the tennis competition for Special Sports, were sponsored by the Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu-led State for a week-long activities in South Africa.

nigeriasports.com gathered further that, the gesture though interest of the State, was a tonic which would "and as a matter of fact, gingered us to put in our very best during any competition.  Not that alone.

It went to demonstrate to us that, we are no neglected lot in the society as far as Lagos State is concerned," Adeshina Adeyemi, Vice-Chairman, Lagos State Special Sports Association told us while confirming the story.

Beneficiaries of the South African trip include; the State's Special Sports Association Chairman, Sunola Olatunbosun, Audu Mohammed, a board member of the association,Mr. Alaka, amongst others.

According to Adeyemi Adesina, who spoke with nigeriasports.com in Lagos," it was not easy getting the sponsorship for our men.  We approached virtually all the States of the Federation; but nothing came forth.  But a few days to departure time, our State came to our rescue and gave the nod for our people to attend the Special Sports Tennis Championship now going on in South Africa."

An excited Adeyemi could not hide his appreciation to the State's Sports Commissioner Bamidele Opeyemi, the State's Deputy Governor Femi Pedro and of course, the State Governor, Asiwaju Tinubu who gave the final seal of approval "after our proposal had successfully travelled through all the protocol transits.
It is quite a honour; and I must confess, members of the association are quite delighted and encouraged by this noble gesture of the State;" submitted Adeyemi.
