Bariga shows stuff at Lagos sports fiesta
Bariga Local council Area last Saturday emerged top at the 2005 Lagos State Sports Festival with 71 gold, 62silver and 58 bronze medals.
With the victory, the council went home with a new Kia Saloon car donated by the State Governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
Coming second behind Bariga, was Coker local council with 48 gold, 34 silver and 33 bronze medals. The local council was also rewarded with a Kia saloon car. One of the higlights of the festival nigeriasports.com reports, was the soccer gold medal won by Kosofe Local Government who defeated Agbado Oke Odo Local council Area 2-0. Ikorodu local government area girls won the female version, Yaba won the silver while Ifako Ijaiye area won the bronze medal. In attendance at the closing ceremony were the Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakarand host governor Tinubu. Tinubu charged the athletes during his address, to go all out and do the state proud at the forthcoming National Sports festival in Ogun State and promised to provide all logistics to make them excel.
