Odegbami’s school gets Indomie Foods

Ex-international and captain of the Nigerian national soccer team, Chief Segun Patrick Odegbami’s pet dream International Sports Academy got a supportive boost in Lagos yesterday, November 25, 2005 with the nod from a popular Foods Industries to stand by the project.


Disclosing this to nigeriasorts.com the Marketing Manager of the company, De United Foods Industries, Mr, Dabin Dasin, who represented the Managing Director, Mr Roger Yeo, said the company would build one classroom block and football field for the Academy located at Wasimi Orile (Olose) in Ogun State.

Explaining his Organization’s decision to support the academy, Dasin, said: “We are happy to be part of this project. There are many talents in the country waiting to be discovered. A project like this we believe would provide an avenue for the identification and development of such potentials.”

He explained further: “We have worked with Odegbami on various projects in the past, including the National Campaign on Education and Sports carried out in various schools all over the country to take sports back to the schools.”

The Marketing Manager pointed out that, De United Foods Industries, makers of Indomie Noodles had always been supporting sports development with sponsorship of the female national team the Super Falcons for six consecutive years.

He also mentioned that the company went further to set up Indomie Football Club of Ota, which had helped in the discovery of Muri Ogunbiyi who plays for Enyimba Football Club of Aba and Taiye Taiwo formerly of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, (now with Mersielle of France).

Speaking at the forum, Chief Odegbami thanked De United Foods and explained that, the dream of the Academy was to build a first class international institution, where students will combine education with sports.

He said the school which is for Senior Secondary School One (SSSI) to SSSIII students will concentrate on sports such as athletics, football, basketball, music and tennis.
Odegbami also disclosed that the admission of students into the school would be free provided such students are talented.

The former Super Eagles captain said the school would run like regular secondary schools with funding coming from foreign college/university grants, UNESCO grant, endowments, local and international corporate sponsorships as well government assisted programmes.
