Enyimba FC lose two in one match

“Humpty, dumpy,” so the Enyimba FC, known as the ‘Peoples Elephants had come in from the blues to trample upon any and all teams that dared stood on their path to the continental marble – the CAF Cup…so too sounded their fall in Egypt last Sunday.

The continental ‘Victor Rostrum’ had perennially remained too slippery for all Nigerian teams until the Elephants decided to brave the typhoon.  When they eventually wrested home the trophy in 2003, they held on jealously to it and proved to the rest of the African continent, that their victory was no farce.

For two consecutive years, the Aba-based Elephants ruled the continent’s soccer jungle.  But when the ‘cock was about crowing the third time,’ the actualization of her dream to have the hitherto most-sought-after crown, for keep, went burst.on Sunday September 11, 2005.

.The Egyptians refused to let their Nigerian guests go… denying the fruition of their ambition to toast with the cup a third time.  They beat them 2-1; thus shoving them out of the race by a slim red line.

The story of that loss, would have been a bit consoling if, it has not also burst their dream of featuring in the FIFA World Club championship scheduled for November 2005.

The Nigerians looked good to reenact their past two years’ wonders, when they struck their hosts in the 27 minute through Atanda Sakiru..

It was a blow too many for the Pharaoh kinsmen.  The North Africans’ attacks arrow head, Osama Hoshi was on hand to hit back at their guests.   And they did not stop there, until they ensured that, they zipped-up any chance of Enyimba dreaming of any farther advancement in the race for the trophy.

Dolphins swallow Gabonese at home

While drumbeats in Aba, the home of Enyimba, ‘Peoples Elephants’ will be on low key, it will be loud partying time for dwellers and followers of  Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt.  They have cruised into the next round of the Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian giant soccer ‘fishes’, against the stormy ocean water of Libreville, Gabon, swam safely ashore with a 2-3 victory over opponents, FC 105.  The swim has given them a berthing slot on the top of the CAF Confederation Cup Group B Table.

Thus at the end of the round, Dolphins FC grossed 10 points from four matches, with three wins, a draw, and no loss.  They have 10 goals for, four against with an aggregate of + 5 goals.  Their immediate chasers, Ismaili of Egypt, have seven points.

Enynmba has nothing to be ashamed of. They gave a good account of themselves and went down fighting. Those gloating over this loss should realise it was a loss to Nigeria, not only Enyimba. Enyimba has created a record that will vey difficult for any other team in Africa, let alone Nigeria, can equal. Thank you Enyimba for making us proud.

The ENYIMBA INT'L CLUB of Nigeria a.k.a the Peoples Elephant. campaign in this year's Caf championshionship has come to an abrupt end last sunday in far away Egypt when they lost 1-2 to the Al ahly.

To me I strongly feel the Nation's soccer governing body (NFA) shd be blamed to a large extent. As a clubside flagging the country's flag in the continent Enyimba shd've been protected from the mass exodus of her players in search of greener pastures with reckless abandon.

My submission is that more stiffer punitive measures shd be put in place to check this players excesess, once they signed contract they shd be made to honour it.

The players also contributed to their early ouster from the tournament. If they had won the match against Ajax of Cape town ,secured the maximum points in Casablanca and even pulled a draw in Aba against the Egyptians.

However, like the old adage says ' the down fall of a man is not the end of his life'. Let the defeat be the needed catalyst that will catapult them up to win the global league this year so that next year will be pay back time.

My special appeal to the sports loving Governor: his excellency Dr ORJI UZOR KALU is that he as a tru sports man he has always being should take heart in the game of soccer u win some and loose some. He should continue to support the club financially and morally.

Most importantly, I think it will be a nice decission if Enyimba is privatised 'cus we do not know who's going to replace his excellency come 2007.
Long live ENYIMBA Int'l FC
long live all Enyimba supprters
Long live federal republic of Nigeria

WAHEED (Nigeria)
I am really sorry for The People's Elephants. If you see what Ajax Caetown played that day oh my God! you will be ashamed of African Football because those guysplayed a trick game for The Raja to qualify. I stressed myself to watch both matches at the same time. No problem since we are having the Nigeria Double Champion still in the Continental. I pray that we should win and we will contest for the Super Cup.
Thanks.
