Oh No, Enyimba loses player to death!

As William Shakespeare, the late literary doyen wrote of death in one of his masterpeices of poems: " ...death is a walking shadow; it's like a poor player that frets and struts its hour upon the stage ... and it's heard no more; it's like a tale told by an idiot; full of sound and fury, signifying nothing..." Life is but a brief a candle.

And no one can tell you how life is like a candle, more than the family of Enyimba FC of Aba goal keeper Sam Okoye, who succumbed to the steel cold claws of  death early this morning in far-away Iran.  Reports reaching nigeriasports.com had it that the player, who had featured for the Nigerian junior team in his career, gave up the ghost at about 5 am Nigerian time.

The late Sam Okoye before his sudden death, was an all-Rangers Interanational FC of Enugu goal tender.  He however parted ways with the Coal City side to pitch his tent with CAF Cup defending champions, Enyimba FC of Aba.  He was in goal for the the Peoples Elephants when, they met youthful Paulson Academy of Benin City in a 2005 Nigerian FA Cup quarter-finals cracker.

His soccer career was blessed with a series of invitations to the camp of the Super Eagles after he had manned the posts for the national Under 20 team during the FIFA Under-20 World Cup Championship hosted by Nigeria in 1999.  The late goal warden would be fondly remembered by Nigerian ball followers, especially members of Rangers International FC and his immediate kinsmen.

Ina lilahi Waina Lilehi rajiuna..... We come from and Him and to Him we belong to... This is a sad story for Nigeria football but what are we gonna do? It has happened and no more going back. It has become a past. May his soul rest in Perfect Peace.

I remember him during 1999 World Youth Championship in Nigeria when he saved that lovely Penalty of the Bulgarians and all his acrobatic movements.

We will never forget you in Nigeria football History.
