D'Tigers Roar to last eight, beat Mali 83-77![]() The Nigerian side captained by Tunji Awojobi survived the onslaught of the Malian who played the game of their lives relying mosty on the inside play thus matching the Nigerian strength for strength in the first, second and fourth quarter. Entering the encounter as the favourite D'Tigers looks unstoppable in the first quarter edging past the Malian by five points margin of 23-18 points only to give up the second quarter 20-24 but relied on experience to counter the Malian in third quarter which it won 21-16 while the last quarter ended 17 points apiece for an 83-77 points victory for Nigeria for it second win which is enough to book a place in the last eight. D'Tigers captain who was superlative on the night led the floor in scoring with 26 points and two rebounds, Ime Udoka added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, while the trio of Olumide Oyedeji, Ikenna Ibekwe and Gab Nnadubem Muoneke added 11 points, two rebounds, 9 points 9 rebounds and 9 points three rebounds to the Nigerian side to keep a clean slate for fatherland. All the twelve teams will observe today as rest day as Nigeria gets set to take on North African side Tunisia who lost to host Algeria by 84-72 points.
