Islanders bow to Dodan Warriors

The hope of former Nigeria premier league champion, Islanders basketball club of Lagos of qualifying for the final-6 of the Vmobile challenge billed for the Indoor of the Abuja National Stadium suffered a set-back on Sunday in Lagos when it went down to city rival Dodan Warriors basketball club by 59-56 points for it second defeat from three matches.

The coach Toyin Sonoiki lads appears a little shaky in the first quarter with a 16-07 points lose to the Warriors but came back strongly in the second quarter with an emphatic 25-09 points win to raise the hope of its teeming fans.

The team, however, lost its bearing in the third quarter which ended 19-07 points in favour of the Warriors who were determined to end their poor run in the challenge after losing it first two games to Delta Force (82-72) and Comets (79-64) respectively.

Though Godwin Unegbe and his co-travelers in the all yellow outfit of Islanders came out for the fourth quarter more purposeful but it was too late for them to post a reasonable result that could earn them the maximum points with a 17-15 points fourth quarter win which was enough to seal victory for the Warriors who won the encounter with cumulative points 59-56 to remain in contention for the third ticket since.
