Wrestlers present honours scroll

The Board of Nigeria Amateur Wrestling Federation (NAWF) will be making a formal presentation of the Medal won at the Maiden Commonwealth Nations Wrestling Championship. The Team won two silver medals at the Championship held in Cape Town, South Africa. The winners are: Sammy Oziti, silver in 68Kg female free style event. While Godswill Tiebiri, won the male silver in 72kg Greco-Roman event. The board sponsored four Wrestlers and Two Officials to the Championships. The championship was organized because organizers of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Gameseliminated wrestling. We are appealing for more support from all and sundry to enable the federation to host major African and World Championships as well as attend events outside the country. The new Minister of Sports and Social Development, Dr. Saidu Samaila Sambawa will received the team at11.00a.m in his office in Abuja yesterday. The Board believes that the victory of the wrestlers at the South Africa meet, will pave way for a successful outing at the Melbourne Games.
