Siasia blames mother luck for Enyimba's home loss

Youth World Cup coach, Samson Siasia has attributed Enyimba's home defeat 0-1 to visiting Al-Ahly of Egypt last weekend, to "hard luck." The encounter played at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, was the first leg of the two-legged meetings of both sides in the on-going CAF Champion Clubs League.

Siasia told nigeriasports.com that, Enyimba players did not perform like they are the defending champions of the continental title.  Though they tried but their efforts were not blended with the stuffs of a champion; otherwise, nothing stopped them from at least, forcing the North Africans to a draw.

“I was invited to come and watch Enyimba match for the first by the sole Administrator, Anyansi Agwu, but unfortunately I was disappointed with the result because, its not what I expected  from a two-time African champions.  I expected to see good football but, it seemed like the visiting team has more experience than Enyimba.  They had all the chances, but couldn't use them.

The Egyptians had only one scoring opportunity and ithey converted it to a goal... I was not impressed," Siasia remarked. Siasia however, called on the technical crew of the club to ensure adequate preparation towards their next away match against Raja Casablanca of Morrocco billed for next month.  And like a consolation, he  stated that, Enyimba still had a chance ofqualifying, as well as going on to win the trophy for keeps.

“I still see Enyimba qualifying from the group stage as well winning the cup.   All I can tell them is to prepare very well against Raja Casablanca because, they may likely want to avenge what we did to them in Holland.  Enyimba will face a lot of humiliation over there.  I think Enyimba might receive a pay- back  from them; not against as Enyimba as a clubside, but as  Nigeria, since they are the Nigerian flag-bearers in the continental championship,” he warned.
