Nigeria U-21 beat ABU, play Potter, AHIP

As part of its build-up to the Argentina 2005 FIBA U-21 World championship the Nigerian U-21 national team currently in camp with the backing of the NBBF and the entire African continent two days ago defeated reigning West Africa University Games, WAUG, defending champion, Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria 85-79 points.

Assistant coach of the team Adeka Daudu said in an exclusive telephone chat that aside defeating the ABU senior team the Abubakar Usman and Buhari Mohammed inspired squad also defeated the ABU team-B 100-38.

The team weeks back was guest of kano based premier league teams Pillars and AHIP, the African Junior Champion first serve a note of warning as regard its readiness to take on the world when it posted a 45-26 points defeat of the Pillars in a game used to test the defense ability of the players and recorded a 65-41 points victory over the premier league new entrant, AHIP.

An elated coach Adeka said the Sanni Ahmed led coaching crew is happy with the rapport being enjoyed among the players, the Comets assistant coach further reveal that the team will play three more friendly games so as to put the players in proper shape.

He disclose that the team will engage AHIP basketball club on July 15, take on the ABU senior team on the 18 and possibly round off its friendly games against savannah conference power house, Niger Potters basketball club of Minna on July 20.

Three out of the six United States of America based invited players (Lawrence Nwevo, Tunji Soroye and Emmanuel Negedu) have since joined the rest of the team in order to create the needed team work and understanding ahead the global fiesta billed to commence in early August.
