Lagos City League new innovation

With the conclusion of the regular games of the Lagos City league and the emergence of four male and four female teams for the semi-finals and finals playoffs with the first jump-ball date set for August 13, 2005 at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Lagos, the organizing committee has added a new innovation which is first of it kind in the country where the semi-finals pairing will be played on a best three games to determine who goes through to the finals.

According the state association chairman, Babatunde Ogunade refer to simply as Babs, said the idea to intro duce the playoffs is to add glamour to the league which will make it to be more competitive and attractive to watch.

The former Nigerian international said aside the semi-finals where teams will play themselves thrice except a  winner emmerge after game-2 having recorded two staright win over its opponent, the third place matches will also be decided through the same method.

In the grand finale, which will be played side by side the third place matches, the female finals will be decided through a best of three games while the male finals will be a best of five games.

The LSBBA chairman is however, optimistic that sponsors would be secure before the commencement of playoffs on August 13. He equally commended the efforts of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF at repositioning the game in the country.

Ogunade enjoined the federation to lend a helping hand to state associations so that the game can develop equally in the country.

hello how are all good nigerians in the house i just want to contribute i tthink the government should finance the sport people to go on with the sport they have should have started preaparing young stars who can represent nigerian anywere in the future government should not stop the support given to sport ,government should provide money to nfa to repair national stadium lagos i think the have abandon there because the got a new stadium from afeez lanre salami (fixco4manchester united)
