No sanctions for erring Enyimba players
Despite heaping the blame for their 0-1 loss to Al Ahly NAtionale of Egypt on the unceremonious disappearance of key players, Chairman of Enyimba FC, Felix Anyansi Agwu has told nigeriasports.com that there will be no sanctions on the players when they return.
Anyansi Agwu told nigeriasports.com that he was in a catch twenty-two situation and would want to thread softly on the matter of penalizing erring players. “Really, its not like we cannot do any thing, but the NFA is not helping out in this regard. What can you do to a player who just packs his bags and leaves to an unknown destination?” “We can only suspend him and refuse to release him if he eventually gets a club, but tomorrow, you the press will still write against us that we want to kill a young promising footballers’ career, so that is our situation.” Anyansi told nigeriasports.com. “We can really sanction some of them, but there is no proper backing from the Federation.” “We just paid hundred percent sign on fees and a lot of them disappeared from camp which is one bad attitude of Nigerian footballers. One day they are in camp and the moment they do not make the team for an away match you do not see them when you return?” Anyansi frowned at the fact the Enyimba may never have a full strength squad to play the Champions league as they could not register any more players having filled up their thirty player registration form. David Tyekase had a short romance with Port Harcourt Sharks and Obinna Nsofor who had been around the world returned shortly before they took on AL Ahly Nationale while Sunday Mba and Emeka Akueme are still Absent Without Leave. David Abwo refused to join the team after his return from the World Youth Championships in Holland saying he had a thanks giving service and party at his house. 2
