Two quick goals by Falcons Striker, Nkechi Egbe in the 1st and 10th minute ensured that Friday’s match between Pelican Stars and FCT Queens is inconsequential Delta Queens top the table with thirteen points from five matches after winning four games and drawing one against Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt. Falcon’s safe hand, Precious Dede was at the top of her game, saving a penalty kick in the 45th minute and rescuing her side from many near-goal situations. Her performance and that of diminutive Vera Okolo would put them in good stead for man of the man award. Three goals by Delta Queens were disallowed by the referee for off side, including one by Vera Okolo that got the crowd booing the match officials. Vera Okolo had dribbled her way from outside about forty yards, taking out four defenders before slotting behind keeper Funmi Ashimolowo. After scoring she ran out of the pitch, more than one hundred meters away to the handball court in the stadium complex fell into a ditch and her team mates who chased her all the way fell in with her celebrating the goal only to turn back to find out her goal was disallowed.
