Vivian sad in Victory

ABUJA, Nigeria - African and Commonwealth shot put champion, Vivian Chukwuemeka-Peters Friday berated herself for a “poor” job after she heaved 17.89m to win the 16th NNPC/Mobil Track & Field Championships in Abuja, Nigeria, insisting it was not the best she could present.

The USA based University undergraduate told nigeriasports.com in Abuja that: “I know it wasn’t the best of me, it was just another throw. I know my worth and 17.89m certainly isn’t it. Well, it has come and gone, but I think, next time I’d learn to take every meet more seriously.” She blamed the lack of competition at the meet as a contributory factor to her poor throw.

“Here the competition was poor and in a field where you are not pushed by other competitors, it is really difficult for you to have a very good mark. Hopefully, I’d have corrected my flaws before the World Championships in August,” the Social Works major said.
