Segun Oluwaniyi relishes time in Rangers goal

Rangers Keeper, Segun Oluwaniyi
For Rangers first choice goalkeeper, Segun Oluwaniyi, he worked hard during his time understudying former first choice keeper, Sam Okoye who has now moved to Enyimba and this moment is his God-given time to shine and show to Nigerians the stuff he is made of.

Rangers Keeper, Segun Oluwaniyi
Segun told nigeriasports.com that he is happy to be the number one at Rangers but owes gratitude to Sam Okoye who was a great teacher during their time together in Enugu.

“I believe that every thing in life is time and chance. Okoye is a very good goalkeeper and he did his part while he was here so it is my prayer that God will see me through to give a good account of myself now I am in the thick of the action.”

He described his side’s loss to Enyimba in Aba as one of his most disappointing games this season as Rangers battled their hosts to a standstill but a momentary loss of concentration ensured Enyimba stole the victory.

“My defenders were ball watching after I parried that pull out. I guess I have to tell them to stay focused because every minute is valuable in a game and of course Rangers are moving on from there.”

Rangers set Champions League target

With the exit of the club from the CAF Confederations Cup, Segun told nigeriasports.com that the players have now set their sights on at least a second place finish in the league to be able to play on the CAF Champions League next season.
“We had to talk to ourselves that all hope is not lost and we can still play in Africa next year.”

“And our Chairman, Davidson Owumi is a good manager of men and money and that is why with so little we can do so well. The players can practically die for him because he knows how to bring out the best in us.”

Oluwaniyi told nigeriasports.com that Rangers can maintain their second position until the end of the league.

Is like every teem is leaving the 1st position to Enyimba.Na waoooo. They should give Enyimba the fight of their life and not given the title to Enyimba whereas they session is only half way gone.Look i want to enjoy the league so all other teems should wake up.But that shows that all other teems has agreed that Enyimba is the best teem in nigeria and Africa.
