Attacking midfield player, Emenike Ezeugo was considered a misfit while with sharks FC between 1996 and 1998 before he packed his bags, moving first to Lobi Stars and now NPA Seasiders. Ezeugo spoke exclusively to nigeriasports.com on his decision to play in Lagos and his immediate plans for the future.
Nigeriasports.com: You once played for Sharks FC; how does it feel whenever you play against a side from Port Harcourt.
Emenike Ezeugo: I once played for sharks and the last time I played against Sharks it ended one- one. Even when we lost 2-1 to dolphins in Port Harcourt this year, I was just happy to see most of my friend from the under seventeen team like Efosa Eguakun and Ochuko Ojobo.
Ns: So now you are with NPA. Why did you move to Lagos from Makurdi?
EE: I had an option to play for NPA because of my plans to travel abroad. I am billed to go the Belgium at the end of June to join a club called KK Ghents. I was to travel last season but due to controversy with the management and my clearance, I decided to leave Lobi Stars and join NPA
Ns: So what did you look at achieving with NPA during your short spell with the club?
EE: I hope before I leave we will be in the top five position on the table.
Ns: What is fan support like for you in Lagos?
EE: Very good. They appreciate the game we play.
Ns: and what direction do you think the league will go?
EE: Well, it’s still open. You can see that Dolphins have not won in quite some time, Enyimba that started so well are now losing games and Shooting and Insurance have both lost at home so anything can still happen.
