Bayelsa Queens make way to table top

Ifeanyi Chiejine and Linda Chukwuji got the two goal that gave home side, Bayelsa Queens a 2-0 victory over Ebonyi Queens, but it was the away team's goalkeeper, Obeleye Whyte who's sharp reflexes, bravery and compusure ensured the game did not end with a handball scoreline.

Incidentally, Obeleye was on the books of Bayelsa Queens until two years ago but was never considered good enough to be registered for the leage so she left for Bonny Island Queens and now Ebonyi Angels.

"I always knew I was good but just wanted someone to give me the chance to prove it and that was why I left for Bonny last year," Obeleye told nigeriasports.com.

"When the chance to play in the professional league came with Ebonyi Queens, i did not hesitate and I am glad i did well against my former club."

Though she was beaten twice, her reflexes were good enough to keep Ebonyi Queens in the game until the 77th minute after going down as early as the 20th minute.

Rivers Angels thrash Handsome

In Port Harcourt, it was Rivers Angels ending 4-1 winners over Handsome Daughters, with goals from Rita NWadike (15th), Helen Azi (28th), Gloria Iroka (59th, 70th).

Onus Kpako pulled one back for Handome Daughters in the 53rd minute.
