Ogunsanya reveals Yoruba alliance in Shooting

Shooting Coach, Kafaru Alabi
Captain of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Seyi Ogunsanya has told nigeriasports.com that most influential Yoruba born players in Nigeria all decided to return home this season to help Shooting stars to their first league title in a long time.

Ogunsanya told nigeriasports.com that at the close of last season, Chairman of the club, Elder Bode Oyewole spoke to players like himself, Oluwole Johnson, Ladi Gasper, Ebenezer Ojo and Wilson Oboh and charged them to come back home and make history with Shooting Stars.

“Our mission in Shooting Stars this year is to bring the glory back,” Ogunsanya told nigeriasports.com.

"In the off season, yoruba born players like myself, Johnson, Gasper, Ojo and Oboh met with the Chairman, Elder Oyewole who convinced us that we must come back home and bring the glory back to the west like it was in time past."

“You can see that in the past four or five years, the glory of football had been in the east with clubs like Enyimba and Dolphins and we want Shooting go get back to glory days.”

“Our target is at least a continental ticket for Shooting stars and if we get that we would be fulfilled that we have given the fans something to cheer about.”

"And we had to tell ourselves that if Yoruba born players like us cannot do it, then nobody will do it for Shooting stars."

Ogunsanya, who dumped Enyimba in the middle of the League campaign last season enthused to nigeriasports.com that they do not really care about winning the league or FA cup, but their guarantee to fans of the club is playing in the continent next season.

“We are not just exuding determination. We talk to ourselves regularly and the way we are going now, I know it will be impossible to stop us. We just pray for an injury free season.”
Shooting Stars recently have an awesome form in the league, going eight matches unbeaten and it remains to be seen how far they can go to fulfill their ambitions of at least a continental ticket for their teeming fans.

shooting stars softly softly oh! your greatest problem has always being opening your mouths too wide.for the fact u've gone eight matches unbeaten is not and shdn't be a yard stick why you shd now tribalised the round leather game game called football in the country.Enyimba fc won the league back and back with all consortium of players across the country even outside the country. shooting stars should be a Nigeria club side in south western part of the country and not a yoruba social club. pride goes before a fall.Remember what happened to you last season. However, i would want them to take over from Enyimba. Long live shooting stars OF Ibadan.

If we Enyimba do it that way u are thinking u wouldn`t have played for us, so that is not the best way to do things, be side football is not as u think. U people should les noise and play the game, let`s see what happens at end of the day. Ur club is a great club in Nigeria we all know that! i thought u said u are going to South Africa b4 second round of the league? Up Sooting Up Yeruba`s as you said.

I'm most highly disappointed by these tribalistic comments Seyi made here.I just hope he is not a frustrated player seeking for cheap publicity. How on earth can a player in the calibre of Seyi Ogunsanya make this type of tribalistic comment when we are about moving our soccer foward in this NAIJA?
This same Seyi made an uncomplimentry remark against the African Champions last time when he accused Enyi Africa of standing in the way of players who want to get foreign contract. And he is here again adding salt to an injury? Let him watch it...he that thinketh he stand look well coz he may be falling.

He who pets another with pebbles ask for rocks in return. Are you [SEYI] playing for tribe or career? Your thougths sounds frustrating.
Does seyi knows his direction? Is he qualified to address the press? Please, we have to be very careful with most of our utterances.Nigeria spotrs am only begging that such things shouldn't be published in the web before our colleagues in South Africa mock at us.
Frankly speaking Seyi has not in all ramification show cased or being professional.I only advice him to leave football and go back to Ibadan and start driving taxi.
