Athletes and officials to the 6th Nkoyo Ibori National U-20 Athletics Championship billed for the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar later in the month, should have nothing to worry about over their accommodation, feeding and intra-city trnsportation. This is because Chief Hostess of the talent-haunt programme, Mrs Nkoyo Ibori, has promised to handle these aspects of the event. Harrison Ocholor, Personal Assistant (sportrs) to the Delta State Governor's wife, told nigerisports.com that ''all things being equal, madam has promised to subsidize the accommodation, feeding and intra-city for the athletes and officials at the championship.
''This is a cheering peice of news to participants...I dare say part of their hitherto problems could have been solved by this noble gesture from madam,''Ocholor remarked.
He also told nigeriasports.com of the state of the art plans to make this edition, ''something really different from the previous five editions. We are not sleeping at ll. We know that times have changed and we have, but to change with it. This is saying that inovations would be introduced this time around, that would be significant...just wait for it.
"This is why we are still calling on all States of the Federation to register their athletes for the championship, if they have not done so. The whole idea, as you know, is to assist in the haunt for younger talents in athletics, who can smartly step into the older athletes' spikes shoes as they yield to the call of 'age'.
"The country should not be seen as waiting for the old ones to age and fade away, berfore groping for replacements...and this, I tell you, is the crux of the matter,'' Ocholor explained.
