Elephant Girls, Customs renew rivalry

The ladies will take the centre stage tomorrow at the indoor sports hall of the Rowe Park Sports Centre in continuation of the City league as two arch rivals Customs basketball club and First Bank Elephant Girls basketball club in game one.

The encounter between both side will be a carry over of last year national division-one championship held in Kano with the Adewumi Aderemi tutored Elephant Girls having the upper hand but many things has since change with both side strengthens their teams in readiness for the City League as a test case for other tournaments to come.

Elephant Girls parading such tested players as Taye Adeniyi, Funmilayo Ojelabi, and Patricia Chukwuma will have their hands full against Customs who will be parading the likes of Joy Mordi, Bola Lawal, Bola Solaja and Biola Oyinloye.

Tomorrow’s game could go either way predicted a basketball fan simply identified as Felicia, according to her both side aside having some of the best local players on their roster also boost of the national team coaches (Scott Nnaji – Customs and Aderemi – Elephnat Girls) who won the first All Africa Games gold medal for Nigeria in 2003.

In the second game of the day First Bank feeder team, blue Angels will take to the court against Dodan Amazons who stunned basketball buff when they record their first win ever against Energie basketball club of Republic of Benin at the WFN Invitational championship held in Abuja.

As it is with the Abuja invitational the young Amazons are capable of posting a surprise result against a complacent opponent.
