Pelican Stars set for another road win in Akure

League leaders, Pelican Stars of Calabar will continue in their quest for a hundred percent record in the Women Football League as they take on Sunshine Queens of Akure on Friday in the third week of the league.

Pelican Stars beat Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt in the first match of the season and went on to win two-one at home to KAduna Queens last weekend.

“We do not necessarily have a better team this year, we just have the full complement of our players with us as the national team is relatively free this year,” Chief Coach, Ntiero Effiom told nigeriasports.com.

Ntiero said he is looking at winning a seventh league title with Pelican Stars after the disappointment of the last two years.

“That is why we are playing the league, to see that we win this year and for now we will just focus on our games and not look at what other sides are doing.”

A win in Akure against Sunshine will put Pelican Stars at a maximum nine points from three matches.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels take on Kaduna Queens today at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, CIWA pitch.

Rivers Angels have lost all two games they have played in the league, a 2-0 loss at home to Pelican Stars and a 2-1 loss to FCT Queens in Abuja.

However, they should be looking on to junior international, Abiodun Obende to inspire them to a win against KAduna Queens.

In Benin, Inneh Queens, hosts Oladimeji Tigress while Handsome Daughters will be home to Delta Queens.

On Saturday it will be, Champions, Bayelsa Queens against FCT Queens while Solid babes hosts Ebonyi Queens on Sunday.
