According to him, leaving the club was the only option that was left for him since the mentors of the club had decided to abandon the team to its  fate. “I don’t think I have any other option than to leave because we can’t continue suffering while others are enjoying.

“Since the government doesnt want to  take up its responsibilities on the club,I might be attracting their attention with  my action of stepping aside  but if they fail to change their attitude fast it may be too late for them by the end of the season,” he said.
He alleged that since the beginning of the season,the management of Sharks failed to  extend some attention to the team as they were doing to other clubs  owned by the same government.

“Since the beginning of this season, I don’t think we have received any support from the state government. We have asked them for so many things to help us  move forward but they have never listened to us. I don’t work like that rather I would prefer to quit as I’ve done.Let someone else take the job. I am stepping aside,” he said.  Sharks were saved from an embarassing home defeat as  Kwara United scored a late minute goal which the centre referee disallowed.

Meanwhile, the qualification of Dolphins for the league stage of the on-going CAF Confederation Cup triggered off wild celebration in Port Harcourt. Football fans in the oil city took to the streets immediately news hit town that their darling club has played a 2-2 draw against Super Sports United of South Africa in the former racists enclave.

Speaking to nigeriasports.com one of the fans Prince Eguma  of Ikwere said that he was overwhelmed with joy, saying that Dolphins had really proved that they were ready  to represent the country in the CAF Competition as well as redeem their image in the on going premier league.

“ I must tell you these boys have really proved how sorry they are for losing out of the Champions League by qualifying in the Confederation Cup. “It still okay for us because they are still in competition, at least this time they are going to touch CAF money and by the grace of God they can win it,” he said.
