Tough times hit NPA Seasiders

team captain
This may sound rediculous, but it's true. Players of the Nigeria Ports Authority, The Seasiders FC of Lagos, are complaining to high heavens at their Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos camp. Most of the players of the Globacom Premier League (Nigeria's elite League)outfit, cannot understand their being squeezed into one room in sixs and are bile bitter over this satanic condittion of accommodation.

"We are six in one small room.  And the rooms are even unkempt as if we are slaves.  The general sanitary condition of the entire hostel enviroment, is inhuman," some of the players compained, when nigeriasports.com visited their camp which is opposite the National Stadium in Lagos.

"Nigeria Ports Authority is a big and rich government parastatal, so we cannot understand why we should be so treated.  Even aside the accommodation, we are being owed four months' salaries and allowances.  Our sign-on fees, which are expected to be paid on the commencement of the league season, are still unpaid...and we are already in the 13tth week of the league season," another grudging group confessed after their 2-1 victory over visiting Gabros FC of Nnewi.

They told us that, Team Manager, Mike Idoko had repeatedly promised to pay these outstanding salaries, bonuses and sign-on fees, up till now, we have been hoping against hope... nothing is forthcoming, only vain promises.

"Yes, it's true that the Team Manager, came one day, showing us the cheques for these monies, but what the hell is holding the monies back?
It's been over three weeks since he came brandishing the cheque.  We are wondering how long it takes to cash a cheque.

"Most times, our salaries and bonuses are tied to our obility to win matches, and we have won quite a number of matches, yet the situation is still the same," yet another griefing group lamented.
