Gate way waves off relegation threat
Team manager of Gateway FC, Kayode Afolabi does not believe Gateway and relegation should be mentioned in the same breath as he has told nigeriasports.com.
Though The Abeokuta based club are firmly rooted at the bottom of the table with one win after thirteen games, Afolabi disagrees with nay-Sayers who believe the Gateway club will go down. “I think a lot of people fail to realize that the league is just thirteen weeks old and besides why do they so much want us to go down?” “My joy is that officiating in the league is okay so by the time we are through with our reorganization a lot of people will be surprised.” “We will soon start picking away wins and draws, just you wait and see.” Afolabi enthused. “Relegation is way out of it and most of the people saying so are just mischief makers who want to cause disunity in the team. ” Afolabi cited the encouragement from the sponsors of the side and the zeal of his players to excel as factors that give him the confidence to beat his chest in public. Gateway Fc recently sacked its entire coaching crew, bring in former Shooting Stars coach, Niyi Akande. The club also signed former Super Eagles attacker, Rashidi Yekini to add to their attacking options. 0
