Dolphins, Insurance crash out

ASEC defeated Dolphins on penalties
It was a mixed-weekend for Nigerian clubs campaigning in the 2005 Caf champions league and Confederation Cup. Dolphins FC fell at the first hurdle in their attempt to make it to the group stages of the Caf Champions League, having their 2-0 first leg advantage wiped off by ASEC Mimosas before losing the tie 5-3 on penalties after aggregate scores stood at 2-2.

Former Africa champions ASEC of Ivory Coast defeated Nigerian side Dolphins 2-0 in Abidjan on Sunday to qualify for the group stages of Champions League.

The victory left the aggregate scores level at 2-2 but the home side went ahead to win 5-3 on penalties.

The Ivorians opened the scoring in the 8th minute thanks to a strike by Vincent de Paul Die-Foney.

They doubled their lead through Alhassane Koivogui in the 66th minute.

Dolphins will now have to go into a playoff for the group stages of the Confederations Cup.

Insurance out, Rangers in
Ghana's King Faisal Babes defeated Bendel Insurance 1-0 in Kumasi on Sunday to qualify for the fourth round of the Confederation Cup.

The home side got the goal in the 44th minute through Kwabena Poku to win the tie 1-0 on aggregate, after drawing 0-0 in the first leg tie.

In Doula, Enugu Rangers reached the fourth round despite losing 1-0 away to Cameroon's Union Douala.

Emmanuel Nouazi's strike in the 80th minute was not enough as the visitors won 3-2 on aggregate.

Dolphin I said it before now that you better know what it takes to qualify for the CAF champions league group stage. But is like you were carried away by the 2 victories you got. Thx for you can still be a force to reckon with in Africa courtesy of Confederation cup if ..., all the same you can make it only that determination show be your watchword. The resources are there, the players need to say no to some distractions.

Its really unfortunate that the coach spent so much time competing with Enyimba, rather than thinking of how his team will play football. I hope they will get there acts together and concentrate on the confederation cup and the league game. Dolphine is a good team, but they need to humble themselves and learn from Enyimba, rather than compare self with Enyimba. Best of luck in your Confederations' play off.

I'm not particularly happy that Dolphins could not get a goal at Abidjan. Anyway that is football, you win some, you loose some. Dolphins should just get their acts together and make sure they qualify for the confederations cup through the playoffs

Its not amusing at all that Nigeria will not present two clubsides in the league stages. I advice Dolphin to cool down and humble themselves now.Let them respect Enyimba and also concede that Enyimba is better than them.Until they do this, they'll never see themselves in that league stage.I hope their media officer China Acheru is listening.
By far Enyimba is better than Dolphins. Its not an exaggeration to say that Enyimba is now in the same level with Chelsea,Man U,Juventus,Real Madrid etc..Dolphin is in the level of 3SC,Iwuanyanwu,Rangers Gabros etc. China Acheru shout and tell Nigerians so.

Speaking prophetically,I don,t think Dolphine will do better than they did in the CAF Champions League. It is not because they are not a good side but because they are not prepared 4 anything other than the bigger competition. Before the competition resumes, they should get a psychologist to among other things recondition the mind and thinking of the players otherwise my prophesy will come 2 pass.
