Prince hails Eguavon's return to Inssurance

Super Eagles assistant coach, Austin Eguavoen’s secondment to shaky Insurance FC, has received a ‘princely’ backing from a one-time player of the side, Prince Afejuku. Threatened by the fear of being kicked out of the Confederation Cup race too early, the management of the Benin Insurance quickly filed an SOS application to the Nigeria Football Association, NFA for the drafting of Eagles assistant coach, Eguavoen to salvage the imminent wreckage the goalless first leg encounter could possibly cause.

Pronto, the Nigerian football authorities responded positively… and this has warmed the heart of Prince, who once-up-a-time, operated from the left flank for the Insurance.

In the eyes of Prince, Eguavoen’s inclusion in the technical team could ginger up the players in the make or mar second leg in soccer inferno in Kumasi.  His judgement is hinged on the fact that the Eagles assistant shot caller was the former General Manager of the team.  “Besides,” added Prince,” Eguavoen is in a position to impart the technical knowledge acquired from his numerous national assignments both as a player and a coach respectively in the boys and this could give the team an edge over their Ghanaian opponents this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Prince has appealed to the players to endeavour to re-enact the spirit of never-say-die, which made the team a household name in the past:

“I remember with a sense of pride that we were very committed to the club.  It was a honour to be in the line-up of Insurance in such crucial matches.  We were proud to wear the yellow and green jersey of Insurance and we played as if there was no other day.”
