ASEC Coach Liewig Blame Pitch

The chief coach of ASEC Mimosa of Cod'Ivoire, Patrick Liewig has heaped the blame for their defeat by hosts, Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt on the turf of the Liberation Stadium. The Ivorien were up against the Nigerian double champions in the on- going CAF Champions League played at the Elekahia Stadium last Sunday. “We played good football against Dolphins and I must tell you,for the bad pitch we would have scored more than one goal here,” he said.

He confirmed that Dolphins FC had a good game against them, stressing that they lacked a cohesive mid-field. “Dolphins FC is a good side like us but they lacked a good mid-field which we used to our advantage...but for the bad pitch. In the first half it was not easy because we were trying tosize up our opponents and in the same breath, get familiar with the pitch.

The second goal was just a mistake because my goal-keeper did not expect the player to take the shot from that close range which gave them the second goal.  But then, the game was okay” he said. He assured that they would try their best possible to neutralize the goals and beat Dolphins when they both meet in the return leg match billed for CoteDIvoire two weeks time.
