Sharks suspend seven for indiscipline

Sharks Technical Manager, Shaibu Amodu
Shortly after Sunday’s three nil win by Sharks over Gateway, Technical Manager of Sharks, Amodu Shaibu announced to the Press that the club has placed indefinite suspension on seven of her regular players for what was described as indiscipline.

Amodu said the players were warned to stay at home on Saturday night to have enough rest ahead of their crucial league game against Gateway a day later but five of them sneaked out of camp at night, claiming they went to watch the Super Eagles play.

“I will not condone indiscipline in my camp, and even though these players form the core of our team they have to be shown the way out to prove to others that no one is indispensable, not even me.”

Shaibu named the players as Peter Ibibor, Valentine Nwabili, Akeem Yakubu, Odjeba, Ogbonaya Abosi, Austin Igweokolo and Ezioha Okereke.

According to Shaibu, the problem with Sharks also includes indiscipline on the part of players.

“If I have identified indiscipline as one of the problems and I do nothing about it, I will not be doing any good to the club, the players and the sponsors of the club.”

Sharks face Enyimba in Aba on Sunday and with seven key players out of the game, fans are already apprehensive on the chances of the club against the African Champions.
