How Nigerian Players Fared in Uefa cup Thursday

Several Nigerian players were in action for their various clubs in the Uefa cup on thursday. nigeriasports.com brings you their perfirmances.

In Ukraine, Yusuf Atanda was on for all 90 minutes as his side Dynamo Kiev battled to a goaless draw against Villarreal of Spain.

In Russia, Chidi Ordiah was splendid in defence for CSKA Moscow in their 2-0 win over Benfica of Portugal. Ordiah was on for the full duration of the game.

In Germany, Alemania Aachen played a goaless draw with AZ Alkmaar of Holland. Chris Iwelumo sat all through on the bench of Alemania while Pius Ikedia was not listed by his new club, Az Alkmaar.

Peter Osaze Odenwigie was a 76th minute substitute at the St’ Jacob Stadium in Holland as his visiting Lille held FC Basle to a goaless draw.

Both Celestine Babayaro and Shola Ameobi started but were later substituted as Newcastle went, saw and conquered Heerenveen of Holland 2-1 with Alan Shearer and Lee Bowyer scoring. Babayaro was replaced in the 52nd minute while Ameobi left the field in the 62nd minute. But they had contributed their quota to the victory.

In Greece, Wilson Oruma did not figure as he is still nursing an injury when his Sochaux team was beaten 1-0 by home side Olympiakos at the Karaikakis Stadium in front of 33,000 fans.

I commend these Nigerian guys who ply their soccer trade in Europe for doing well in their various clubs.I hope the eyes of Coach Chukwu is on them.

I hopeChukwu is not blind, Ameobi, Babayaro, Oruma and Oliseh with Agali should be invited to the National team otherwise Nigeria is doomed.
