Izuagha shines in Lebanon

Izuagha (jersey 23) in last week's loss to Mabara
Former Golden eaglet skipper and Safa libero, Ejike Izuagha was voted man-of-the-match as Al Ansar suffered their first league defeat at the hand of Safa who scored a 1-0 victory thanks to a lone goal by Ahmed Al Nemaani in the 50th minute.

In a great derby watched by 35,000 fans, Izuagha and his Safa FC mates snuffed life out of the second richest and biggest side in Lebanon to stay in fifth place at the end of the first round.

It was a brilliant success for Izuagha and his club who watched in awe as Mabara inflicted a terrible 3-2 home loss on them last Wednesday.

It took the brilliance of the Nigerian defender for Al Safa (formerly coached by Christian Chukwu) to run away with the maximum points as Jemani and Mustra continued to pile up pressure on them.

The performance of the former Eintract Frankfurt of Germany star has not gone unnoticed as leaders Al Nejmeh were reported to have shown interest in him.

Meanwhile, Ejike Izuagha was however voted as the man of the match to become the third African to be voted this season.

The others include another Nigerian Felix who plays for Al Ansar and Ghanaian midfielder Emanuel Dua of Al Nejimeh.
