Martins nominated for Caf award

Obafemi Martins is up for the Caf young player of the year again
Nigeria's Obafemi Martins is again nominated for the Young Player of the Year award which he took for 2003. His opposition this time around comes Marouane Chamakh of Morocco and Egypt's Ahmed Fathi.

While African champions Tunisia dominate the list of nominees for the Caf annual awards evening to be held in South Africa next month.

The final list was unveiled on Tuesday to add to the five candidates for the African Footballer of the Year announced last month.

Tunisia, who won the African Nations Cup last February, have a candidate in six of the 10 categories.

The Tunisian national side is heavily tipped to win the Team of the Year award while their coach Roger Lemerre is nominated for the Coach of the Year accolade.

Lemerre faces competition from Badou Ezaki of Morocco and Okey Emordi, who steered Enyimba to the African Champions League title in December.

After winning a second successive Champions League crown, Enyimba are one of the three nominees for the Club of the Year award along with Tunisia's Etoile Sahel and Hearts of Oak of Ghana.

The three nominees for the best performer in the African Champions League include Enyimba goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Ali Zitouni of Esperance and Etoile Sahel's Zoubeir Baya.

Zitouni scored nine goals in the Champions League for the Tunisian giants while Baya was outstanding as captain of the tournament's eventual runners-up.

The announcement of the African Footballer of the Year will be the high point of the gala on 15 February although at least two of the five candidates are unlikely to make the trip to Durban.

Both Samuel Eto'o and Dider Drogba have committed to pay in the tsunami relief match being organised by Fifa in Barcelona the same day.

Can u imagine!!! Tunisia dominated like 10 CAF awards. thanks God we are among as well bt all those nominated for Tunisia is just a nighmare dream. That Youngest Player is coming back to Obagoal. That best Coach is coming back to Enyimba except if there is a controversial record. That best Club is to Enyimba as well and that Best Club Player is to Enyama etc. But the main is the African Best Player. I pray to be Okocha's turn this year and if it's against him again. Shikenaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

We in Nigeria are not happy with the way we are cheated, everybody knows that the Super Falcons are supposed to be nominated in the best team category and even win it,but behold,Tunisia, lucky natios cup winners and even Ivory coast that wre not at the nations cup, serious and again,is CAF going to tell us that they have throen away the women player of the year award in a year when nobody but Nkwocha od Nigeria is suppoosd to be the winner, even the 2nd and 3rd should be Nigerians,I think we need an explanation on tyhe daylight robbery. Then finally,I don't see how Tunisia dominated the awards, they have 6,we have 6,i think we have to appreciate what is our own.

i hope Jay-Jay would win the african footballer of the year this time cos he's done everything possible to win the tittle,he helped his club (BOLTON) last season to remain in the premiership and nigeria in the nations cup which he won the golden boot and also the most valuable player of the tournament. He missed it last year for Samuel Eto'o, so i hope this year wuold be his turn for the tittle.
