Frank talk from Fredricks!

Africa and Namibian legend, Frankie Fredricks has attributed cheats in sports to lack of awareness and education on the part of athletes. The veteran who clinched the Silver medal of the 200-metres here in Abuja was blunt in his comment, when he said “It never occurred to me to take banned substance in my career for the damage will be too bad for me” he said in his calm voice.
“I am still worried and bothered on why someone would take drugs in sports” he told NTA network, minutes after his Silver feat behind Nigeria’s Uchenna Emedolu

Still A Frank Affair!

It was an emotional day for Namibia’s Frankie Fredricks, after picking up the Silver medal of the 200-metres event here in Abuja. Dedicating his feat to Late Oluyemi
Kayode, a former Nigerian star athlete who passed away couple of years back in the United States.

Fredricks recounts that the Late Ekiti sprinter was his training partner before he died, lamenting on his inability to be present during his burial.

Speaking further, he said “You need to know how close we were, you’ve never had an athlete like him” he paid a glowing tribute to the Barcelona ’92 Olympic silver medalist.
