Cas throw out Ismaili's appeal![]() The Cas ruled that it has no jurisdiction over the appeal filed on 19 August 2004 by Ismaili against Caf's decision to confirm Enyimba of Nigeria as the winners of the 2003 Champions League. This ruling was based on the fact that the Caf statutes that allow clubs or federations to lodge appeals with the Cas against Caf committee decisions only came into effect on 1 September 2004. Which means the rules came into effect 10 months after the Champions League final second leg between Ismaili and Enyimba was played in Egypt on 13 December 2003. Ismaili officials took their case to the Cas after Caf ruled against the Egyptians claims that Enyimba used an ineligible player, Ahmed 'Yaro Yaro' Garba, for the two-legged final in December 2003. The Egyptians argued that 'Yaro Yaro' played for Enyimba while he was still registered with Kano Pillars in the Nigerian domestic league. Cas, the Switzerland-based organization, is the ultimate legal authority in sports
