However, it was the international football match that held in Port Harcourt a day later that attracted even more attention than the wedding proper. All members of the Super Falcons team were present in Port Harcourt and looking for places in the team that played against an all-star side. In the second half, Stella Mbachu, Rita Nwadike and Ifeanyi Chiejine joined the fray. For the all star team, Charity John manned the posts, while defence had Kome Williams Lawrencia Nnadieto, Ulunma Jerome and Cameroon’s captain, Anong Bernadette Zang. In midfield was another Cameroonian International, Lydienne Njolle, Gift Otuwe, Celina Akide, Onyinye Ohaduogha, and Cameroonian Bella Francious while the attack had Jacinta Nwachukwu and Faustina Ugwuadu In the second half, Ngozi Onwubiko and Cameroonian imports, Mete Zogo Marceline and Gladys Ayele got in, while Beatrice Ozurumba also tasted action. After the match, Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Allwell Onyesoh hosted all eighty female footballers present to a sumptuos dinner at the Jevnik Restaurant at GRA in Port Harcourt. Mercy loses car in auto crash Just hours after her wedding ceremony to Colin Udoh, former African Footballer of the year, Mercy Akide, now Mercy Udoh lost her car in a crash on her way home. Mercy told nigeriasports.com that she is grateful no life was lost in the crash even though the car turned a complete wreck. According to Akide, the incident happened early on Sunday morning after her wedding when she hosted her teammates from the Super Falcons team to a party at a popular nightclub in Port Harcourt, Bootleggers. “After the party, my brother dropped me off at my husband’s house and left for home with my younger sister in the car with him.” “But after about an hour, we received a call from him saying he crashed the car into an electric pole and the car was completely destroyed. Right now I don’t have a car and I don’t know what to do.” Mercy told nigeriasports.com. Her younger brother, Livingstone and sister, Celina escaped unhurt from the wreckage. 3
