Finance ministry delays Falconets budget approval

Falconets defender, Rita Chikwelu
Apparently to avoid being blamed for a repeat of the Super Falcons’ behaviour in the recent African Women Soccer Championship in South Africa, the Nigeria football Association has directed accusing fingers at the Finance ministry over the delay in releasing the money approved for the Falconets’ participation in the FIFA World Women Junior Championship, nigeriasports.com can report.

NFA chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima said on thursday in Abuja that the Finance Ministry was yet to release the money approved for the Falconets.

“As I’m talking now, the file is still lying on the table of the Finance Minister. Hopefully it would be treated and the money released to be taken to the players and officials this week”, Galadima said.

Remarkably, the players and accompanying officials left for Thailand last weekend without the money meant for their allowances and match bonuses.

But the NFA boss said the money would be sent to the players as soon as it is available.

Galadima however did not specify who among the NFA officials that would take the money to the players as soon as it is made available.

He however assured that the level the file has gone at the Finance ministry that the players’ money would be released on good time to avoid a repeat of the near ugly incident during the recent Africa Women Soccer Championship in South Africa.
