In other men's singles results, Sebastian Fitz who won the Future 2 singles title of the last Lagos Governor's Cup tournament defeated Filip Anola 7-6, 6-2, Maarvi Moti beat Nigeria's Abdulmumin Babalola in straight sets of 6-4, 6-2, while Koudriavster Alexandre of Russia triumphed over Josef Nesticky who retired with two games down in the first set. In the ladies singles category, Jennifer Schmidt defeated Nigeria's Ronke Akingbade six love, 6-7 while Omotayo Ibrahim who is one of Nigeria's most consistent female tennis players crumbled to a six love, six one defeat to South Africa's Surina De Beer. Margret Olagundoye, a late entrant in the Futures tournament this year did not fair any better as she fell 6-2, 6-3 to Vanessa Vellauer. In another encounter decided yesterday, Anna Miller overran Katie Muller 6-2, 6-3. Results of the ladies doubles matches played yesterday did not paint a better picture for Nigerian tennis. The pair of Alanna Broderick and De Beer defeated Seun Ogundare and Abiodun Oyegoke six love, six love while Muller Katie and Snyman Michelle defeated Nosa Esorare and Margret Olagundoye six love, six two. Amadin Orobosa and Tekeme Ekios lost six love, six love to Etzel Franziska and Schmidt Jennifer.
