Egypt edge Nigeria

Egypt on Saturday defeated Nigeria in three straight sets of 25- 21, 25-12, 25-20, in the final of African Junior Nations Cup Volleyball Women Championship in Abuja, reports Nigeriasports.com

The victory will see Egypt representing Africa in the World youth championship.

Nigeria coach Nuhu Japheth was a bitter man after the game “They were better than us technically and mentally.

“When you lose to a team of their calibre you need not bother but think of moving your game forward in subsequent competitions,” Japheth said.

Nigeria, Senegal and Egypt participated in the championship even though Algeria, Kenya, Tunisia and Congo DR were billed to feature in the event, which also served as qualification for the next World Youth Championship.
