Dokiwari bites the dust in one

Duncan Dokiwari
Momentary loss of concentration has added one more sad defeat to the record of Nigerian heavyweight Duncan Dokiwari. Nigeriasports.com can exclusively report.

The Rivers state born huge pugilist was technically knocked out in the first round by Stacy Frazier, a journey man in the heavyweight class of world boxing.

Dokiwari, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics super heavyweight bronze medalist whose career has been beleaguered by promotional and managerial problems many times lost concentration towards the end of the round which he had almost won without any blemish.

The heavy-handed Frazier (12 knockouts in 13 wins) landed a looping right to the temple that stumbled Dokiwari backwards into the ropes. Dokiwari slid down to the canvas as referee Toby Gibson began the count.

Dokiwari got off his back on shaky legs at the count of eight and referee Gibson motioned him forward. The Nigerian stumbled forward like an Egyptian mummy and
Gibson immediately waived the fight off at 2mins:55secs of the round.

In his last fight before this, Dokiwari lost a ten-round decision to then-undefeated contender Dominick Guinn back in October 2003.

He is however scheduled to fight Damon Reed for the NABC (North America boxing confederation) heavyweight title on October 16th at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California.

With the loss, Dokiwari now falls to 22-3, 19 KOs while Frazier improves to 13-3, 12 KOs.
