Falcons settled, ready to return home

Sports and Social Development minister, Colonel Musa Mohammed (rtd) last night assured that members of the glorious Super Falcons that won the African Women Soccer Championship shield for the fourth time in South Africa have been paid their allowances.

Subsequently, the players that had hitherto insisted to stay back in South Africa until their allowances are paid, are expected to arrive the country this week. Col Mohammed has however promised that the players would not be punished for their behaviour.

But the Sports minister did not disclose the type of reception that would be accorded the glorious players that humiliated Cameroon 5-0 in the final to lift the trophy for the fourth consecutive times. Already, the players have missed their flight for Tuesday, and the next flights from Johannesburg are on Thursday and Friday. The players had on Monday turned down all plea to board the available flight from Johannesburg as they demanded for full payment of their allowances from the Nigeria football Association.

Why do we have to wait for this national embarassment before we do the right thing? Well i hope every party involeved in this disgracefull act has learnt great lessons in one way of the other. The players should be welcomed and encouraged for a job well done out there.

i did said it b4 that our leaders only understand the language of force/strikes, why would they wait for this long to do the right thing?, must they be pushed to the wall b4 they act?, do they need all that cries and embarrasement b4 they do the right thing?
Anyways, this falcons actions i guess is an eye opener for them, Sports ministry and NFA would have learnt their lessons in a bitter way, they must wake up from their slumber and quit all their egocentric and timid smartness and own up to futureresponsibilities.
i wish to salute the bravity and comradship of all sports lovers both at home and diaspora for advocating justice and standing by our girls.
pls keep on lashing these leaders through this medium till they change their achaic and dumb fashion to our Athletes.
Mr Ahamefule, tnx a lot 4 ya wisdom, we need more constructive criticism so that oneday and someday the BIG OGAs will change for good

any sports fan can reach me on, tisaac2@houston.oilfield.slb.com, we need to form a formidable and articulate force for our athletes.
