Shaibu Amodu stays back with Sharks
The Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili has ordered Technical Manager of Sharks FC, Amodu Shaibu to return to the club and commence preparations for next season, nigeriasports.com reports.
Amodu had fumed in anger at the way Sharks were bundled out of the FA Cup in the quarter final stage by Insurance of Benin and he threatened to quit the local scene. "I will have nothing more to do with football in Nigeria if this is the way things are done in the league and FA cup," Amodu said imediately after the match in Benin. However, during the reception organised for Sharks and Dolphin on Monday, the Governor of the state publicly ordered Amodu to return to Sharks. "Amodu! I hear you have threatened to retire from the local scene because of the way you were treated in Benin," Governor Odili said. "You are one of the best coaches in the country and any club that has the previledge of you working with them should count themselves lucky. You will not resign. You will stay back and tutor the club next season so start work immediately." Sharks players were rewarded with the sum of ten million naira by the Governor for their efforts at returning to the Premier LEague one year after relegation. The Coaching Crew got the sum of five million naira while the management and Supporters club got three million naira each. 1
